Country of Origin: Ukraine

Synopsis:
In the early 2000s, a young couple lived in Khrushchevka (an unofficial name for a type of low-cost, concrete-paneled or brick three- to five-storied apartment building that was developed in the Soviet Union during the early 1960s, during the time its namesake, Nikita Khrushchev, directed the Soviet government): Zhenya and Dora. He is an ordinary guy from the block, and she is an insecure pacifist. One day, Dora confesses to her boyfriend that she is pregnant. Zhenya is very happy about it and goes out to buy a cake. After several hours of waiting, Dora gets scared that something might have happened to Zhenya and goes to look for him. Her attitude changes when she sees an advertisement on the post that says “Loans for single mothers.” We’ll never know whether Zhenya has returned home or not, but we do know that Dora has changed. She is no longer the naive girl who loves everything in the world. She wasn’t broken, but she will never be the same as before.
