Born, raised and educated in the gorgeous Herefordshire countryside, Elizabeth Rita has always had an eye for beauty. With a BA honours in Theatre Design and an ITEC Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Hair & Make-up under her belt, Elizabeth has travelled the world doing hair and make-up for an exciting range of clients.
After a lengthy spell in Sydney, Australia (where, among other projects, she was principle Make-Up artist on a shoot featuring Adele Thiel of Australia’s Next Top Model), she returned to the UK in 2009 to settle in South West London. Having originally completed her training at the Brushstroke School of Make-Up and Hair at Shepperton and Pinewood Studios before she set off on her travels, she was eager to return to Blighty for some home cooking and a crack at the London Fashion scene. Since her return to the UK, Elizabeth’s career has gone from strength to strength with a diverse client portfolio spanning print, fashion, music, online publications and television.
It’s hard to choose a favourite project, but some really inspiring projects have included her extensive work for Lancôme, The Alexander McQueen Tribute for the BBC, A Year at Gunpoint for ITV, a very entertaining shoot for Jigsaw Kids (whoever said never work with kids or animals doesn’t know what they’re talking about!) and several online campaigns for M&S’s Per Una range. An avid music fan, Elizabeth has also been delighted to have made-up Snow Patrol, Fall Out Boy, Alice Cooper and STEPS, to name but a few celebrity clients. Recently, she has also worked on prime-time TV shows The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Strictly Come Dancing.
While name-dropping’s not really her thing, Elizabeth is also very honoured to have worked extensively over the past year on Rankin’s Hunger Magazine, a very exciting period which really developed her style as a make-up artist.
A consummate professional, Elizabeth always has tremendous fun with every project she is involved with and is famed for bringing bags of energy and a cheeky smile to every set. It is this contagious sparkle that has enabled her to apply her considerable talents to some pretty well known faces: she’s found herself in more than a few unusual predicaments including but not limited to gossiping with Jodie Kidd, giggling with the fabulous Louie Spence and getting a peck on the cheek from Peter Andre (lucky girl…). But, y’know, name-dropping’s not her thing…
With her impeccable eye for detail and unrivalled enthusiasm for her craft, Elizabeth is an essential element to any fashion or lifestyle shoot.
Life’s never boring when Elizabeth Rita’s around…
