The topic my partner and I chose was a romantic comedy. We tried to tell the story of a Chinese girl’s excitement after falling in love with the same sex. Due to the lack of sex education in Chinese education, the girl in the film feels excited after falling in love with the same sex and wants to make an effort to find her, and while getting to know her it is not clear what caused the affection or whether her family and friends will understand it. It’s a story about love and a Chinese girl’s exploration of sexual orientation. While the topic may be a bit heavy, we didn’t want it to be too serious, so we chose to present it in a cute, lighthearted way, which is why we chose romantic comedy as our theme. In the use of editing techniques, since the narrative style of our trailer leans towards everyday life, instead of some flashy editing techniques, we use common editing techniques like dissolve, cut, match cut and multi-take. We used four different shot types which are wide shot, mid-shot, close up and extreme wide shot, these shots are for background, main props and character emotions. Four different camera movements are zoom, pan, rack focus and dolly which add to the view ability of the trailer and make it more rich. During this particular period, my partner and I did the best we could for this project under limited conditions. If we had more conditions, I might have increased the number of actors and shot more conflicts between characters.
