Sambhar is a popular south India dish and is prepared using toor or arhar dal along with several veggies. With a little sour taste because of tamarind pulp in it, sambhar is a nutritious dish that can be enjoyed anytime. It’s not just the idli and dosa, sambhar can also be eaten with plain or jeera rice as well.

INGREDIENTS
½ cup toor dal
1 cup water
2 tbsp oil
2 tsp jeera
1 tsp mustard seeds
5-6 curry leaves
2 dried red chillis
1 tsp garlic paste
2 onion (sliced)
salt to taste
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp corinander powder
½ cup tomato puree
¼ cup tamarind socked in 1 cup water
