A segment from George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s Pulitzer Prize winning comedy, ‘You Can’t Take It With You’, presented by Tir-na-nOg Theatre, Bowen Island, Canada. This was filmed after the audience had left, as Tir-na-nOg Theatre’s live performances are never recorded. Robin de Zwart portrayed Tony Kirby, a good old romantic lead, trying to marry the girl of his dreams, hoping to find fulfillment and happiness.

Set in 1936, the story whirls around and about the Sycamore family and friends, who each cheerfully follow their heart’s desire, whether it be stamp collecting, fireworks, ballet or play-writing. Things really start to bubble and boil when Alice’s fiancé, Tony Kirby, arrives with his somewhat straight-laced parents on the wrong night. In this segment, Tony confronts his father about following his dreams.
