In video posted on social media, the girl identified as Amelia, aged seven, stood up in front of people packed into a shelter on February 27. As she began to sing in a clear voice, the crowd fell quiet, and some filmed the young performer.
The video was filmed at an undisclosed location in Ukraine by Marta Smekhova, who was given permission to film by Amelia’s mother Liliya.
Idina Menzel , who sang the song in the movie, tweeted on Monday (March 7): “We see you. We really, really see you” and followed her message with two hearts of blue and yellow, the colours of Ukraine’s flag.
After she finished her rendition of the song the crowd applauded, and the young singer looked around at the audience, and giggled, holding her hands to her face.
