Spring 2019

Length: 1:30 – 1:45
Finished cut is: 720×480 4:3 29.97

The object of this project is to cut a scene from the given footage and to do it in a manner that best utilizes the footage, and creates a dramatic and well-paced story. Sound effects are to be used to enhance the fight sequence. I want a fairly standard scene like one would expect to see on television. I do not want a “joke” cut, don’t try to add comedy into this dramatic scene. Create dramatic pauses and overlap shots for reactions if it works.

A cut which has reactions and good timing will get a higher grade than one where every edit is a straight cut matched with the sound. Do not use any visual transitions between the shots… ie. no dissolves or fades to black.

Add in the sound effects for the fight scene, and mix the audio levels so that they feel like they belong to the scene. Fix Abby’s Cu missing dialog line by using the audio from one of the other takes. Be careful, all the sound effects will come in too loud, make sure to lower their volume significantly. Do not exceed the 1:45 duration on the entire cut.

In the scene between the bad guy, the girl, and the Marshal by the wagon, do not drop any of the dialog lines from this part. This refers to from when the Marshal says “hold it” all the way till when the bad guy says “that’s where you made your mistake, mister.” You may drop anything before and after this, but still create a coherent scene.

Bad guy reaction to Abby’s line
SFX must be lowered (-14db)
Use reactions to shorten fight
Show reaction of Abby at the end
Do not drop any dialog lines at the wagon
