New ships and boats sail in! We shrunk the kids and shoved them off to sea with the cat and the owl!

I am 70 yr and at last am devoting time and effort to learning Photoshop better. The way I learn best is in action, using who and what is all around me with fun and imagination. About 3 years ago my husband and I moved to a small ciudad of Tepoztlan, Mx. surrounded by awesome mountains. One of Mexico’s magic cities! It is! We wake each morning and create the day. There are many walls here in Tepoztlan. Frequently very old stone walls covered with flowering vines. Bougainvilleas drop their colored petals all over the steep cobblestone streets. Wet mornings the rounded stones glisten with sunlight. The newer concrete block walls frequently get attacks of graffiti. We have been here 9 years. We noticed walls where there were murals were mostly untouched by graffiti. Near our home I began a project..Street Stories. The first story was written by Catherine Friend and illustrated by Irene Suarez..KIKIMUNDO. Myself and a 14 yr old Mexican girl, Veronica painted the story Mi Cabeza esta Llena de Colores. It took us 5 months in the hot Mexican sun. We used enamels. The colors are rich and durable. So began a love affair with coloring books. Veronica had never painted before. We printed out each page large and using carbon paper transferred the drawings to the white wall. Then we colored! Coloring books allow me to draw in local people who have never painted before and share the joy of materializing long term projects. I’m showing how to do it and maintaining whatever we do. Which leads up to this Voyagers video..We began using a drawing of a 3 masted ship sailing out of the pages of Lost Ocean by Johanna Basford in Scotland..the first boat to come in came just after midnight from India..a boat load of refugees. Then a few 3 masters sailed in..Minneapolis, New Zealand, North Carolina..then a tug boat from Washington State and a fleet of coloring’s from a little girl in France. I am learning Photoshop and having fun!
Our Mexican family totals about 12 people. Neighbors visit all the time. Tepoztlan is famous as party city! Mole, pollo y arroz are always cooking somewhere in town..great vats bubbling! It is very social and frequently children come upstairs where we are and play with the blocks or color or I show them what is being worked on in my Photoshop class..and promptly pull them in!!
